Dr. Ulrich Girrbach served as Director and Vice President and Global Head of Marketing and Sales for Hoechst/Trevira. He developed and implemented a global marketing strategy for flame retardant fibers and intermediate yarns, leading to strong growth in the U.S. (greater than 70% over two years). As Global Marketing Manager for Trevira CS, Dr. Girrbach introduced comprehensive market segmentation for different end users which led to strong sales growth. He also served as a SVP Global Marketing at ASK Chemicals Group as well as Chariman of the Board of Directors at ASK Chemicals Iberica. Dr. Girrbach earned a PhD in natural sciences from the University of Mainz and a Dipl. Ing., Master in Engineering from the University Karlsruhe.
Q: With your previous experiences as a Director and Vice President and Global Head of Marketing and Sales for various chemical companies, what factors played a role in your decision to join the FRX Polymers team?
FRX Polymers has a striking and sustainable solution for flame retarding polymers. Knowing the FR textiles industry for a long time, I am excited to see new products emerging due to advanced technologies enabled by the Nofia® product range.
Additionally, the FRX Polymers team works diligently to put themselves into their customers’ shoes. Therefore we’re focused on developing solutions that solve problems at that customers’ end. This is a unique marketing approach for a raw material supplier.
Q: In your experience, describe one key factor or ‘must have’ to succeeding with a new product application?
The key factor to new product success is developing a sustainable solution which is better than existing ones. Products without a clear and sustainable value proposition have no long-term perspective.
