Connectors

Since most connectors must be produced to meet stringent fire standards, the plastics used are compounded with flame retardant additives. FRX Polymers offers non-halogen containing plastic that allows the plastics to meet the fire standard in an environmentally safe manner.

FRX Polymers delivers the following advantages versus existing halogen and non-halogen solutions:

    • Enhanced mechanical properties of host plastic

Electronic Housings and Components

The vast majority of electrical/electronic devices are made of plastics. They all require flame retardants due to the potential for fire. Typical flame retardants used in these applications significantly reduce the heat deflection temperature of the plastic. The flame retardants typically plate out onto the mold when processing or migrate out during the life of the device.

FRX Polymers provides exceptional flame retardant behavior of the host plastic while also delivering additional benefits compared to existing halogen and non-halogen solutions:

      • 30°C to 40°C improved heat distortion temperature
      • Improved  hydrolytic stability
      • Improved resistance to oils
      • Permanence – will not bleed out over time

Wire and Cable

Virtually every consumer electronic product sold today is powered via a power cable made from PVC. Alternatives to PVC are under evaluation, but significant issues persist. Unlike PVC, alternative products are very difficult to make flame retardant while, at the same time, achieving high extrusion throughput and a high quality surface.

FRX Polymers' products lend themselves to solving the processing and surface quality issues prevalent with alternative non-halogen systems. FRXP's polymers will:

    • Provide flame retardancy while also allowing high extrusion throughput rates and a superior surface quality
    • Enable a final product which is easily colorable

Printed Circuit Boards

The majority of printed circuit boards are manufactured from epoxy laminates. FRX Polymers' products will provide outstanding flame retardant properties, which also meet the other stringent electrical and mechanical performance requirements of the application.  FRXP's polymers are reactive and compatible with the epoxy matrix and will not migrate out over time.
