Director Applications Technology

FRX Polymers, Inc. (FRXP) has an opening for a full-time Director Applications Technology, located in Chelmsford, MA. In this position you will lead the product development activities within FRXP and work together with our customers to develop the best solutions to their requirements. Excellent analytical skills are required to problem solve and provide improved flame retardancy solutions to our customers. The individual will gain valuable industry experience being involved with commercialization of a new polymeric material.  Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead new product introductions and execute technology programs to drive short and long term business growth strategy.
  • Work closely with customers to develop innovative solutions in flame retardant plastic applications.
  • Provide and develop technical leadership in flame retardancy solutions for the plastics industry.
  • Manage the FRXP applications lab (extrusions, molding, testing) and coordinate testing at third parties.
  • Provide technical leadership supporting scale-up and implementation of next generation products working closely with the process and manufacturing team.
  • Develop new intellectual property.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science with at least 7-10 years of industrial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of polymerization fundamentals and materials characterization.  Experience in developing flame retardant plastics is preferred.
  • Demonstrated technology excellence in developing and commercializing innovative blends across a range of different polymer systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to quickly assess nature, scope and  strategies for developing new programs or trouble-shooting
  • Proven ability of program management and coordination.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organization and interaction skills.
  • Team player that knows how to work independently
  • Hands-on, high energy, results-oriented. 

 

Staff Accountant 

Perform accounts payable/receivable duties for the Inc. and GmbH:

  • assigning purchase order numbers
  • maintaining vendor records
  • keying vendor invoices
  • audits coding of billing
  • scheduling for payment
  • sales order maintenance and supporting documentation
  • paperwork required for shipments (invoices, bill of lading, msds and CoA
  • maintaining customer records and appropriate credit documentation
  • billing customers
  • cash application 

Perform the monthly close activities:

  • journal entry posting
  • general ledger account reconciliations
  • bank reconciliations
  • cash  reconciliation
  • fixed asset schedule

Assists with other reporting related requirements

  • W-2
  • sales tax
  • VAT
  • payroll
  • other required reporting

Assist with

  • corporate document maintenance
  • audits
  • cash management
  • implementation of the new accounting system
  • policy and procedure documentation
  • other accounting and administrative responsibilities as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years relevant experience required including knowledge of GAAP
  • Intermediate Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills
  • Experience with manufacturing accounting systems

Advanced Chemist

Experienced chemist to develop and optimize monomer and polymer chemistry in the laboratory followed by scale up to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.   Located in Chelmsford, MA, significant work with companies around the globe will be essential to success.  Overseas travel and some on-site support will be a feature of this opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of FRX process technology at supplier and partner organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process yields, quality and economics.  Develop solutions and lead implementation.
  • Build and maintain analytical capabilities at FRX Polymers, Inc.
  • Maintain outstanding performance in environmental impact and overall safety.
  • Independently plan and execute experimental programs.  Author appropriate technical reports, invention disclosures and press articles.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry
  • Five or more years experience in synthesis, analytical chemistry or manufacturing of specialty chemicals or polymers.
  • Familiar with melt processing of monomers and polymers, phosphorus chemistry and catalysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-starting.  Able to succeed with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated record of success.
